The Campaign

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia encompasses five counties—Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery—spread over 2,165 square miles. There are 266 parishes and more than 200 schools, and more than 1.4 million Catholic men, women, and children throughout the Philadelphia region.

Our parishes, schoolshistoric Basilica, a leading seminary, the agencies of Catholic Human Services and dozens of pastoral offices supporting evangelization, family life and other important ministries remain true to our hearts and our culture. In addition, our diocesan family reflects the diversity of God’s human family, comprised of people from every part of the globe, every socio-economic status, praising God in dozens of languages.

The Heritage of Faith ~ Vision of Hope campaign was an extraordinary undertaking designed to meet the challenges of the Church. Many families pledged committments to the Archdiocese to ensure that the ministries that impact all our lives are able to continue. Thanks to those families the campaign was extremely successful.

During this difficult economy, as families are paying on their pledges. we turn to our shepherd. In the words of Archbishop Chaput:

Too often we think of the Church as an institution, and institutions are hard to love. The structures of Catholic life are  required by canon and civil law, and they’re important. But they’re also secondary. At her heart, the Church is a family, a community of believers.

Fulfillment of Heritage of Faith ~ Vision of Hope pledges will provide a solid basis for meeting the needs of these important ministries that are so dear to our hearts.

Below is a quick reminder of what we set out to accomplish together with the Heritage of Faith ~ Vision of Hope campaign.

  1. Revitalizing and renewing parish life as the center of our faith
  2. Ensuring access to a high-quality Catholic education
  3. Restoring the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul
  4. Investing in priestly formation and campus infrastructure at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary
  5. Ensuring a dignified retirement and healthcare for retired clergy
  6. Ministering to the needy in our region by providing vital human services
